Our Limit Becomes Our Niche

Paint 27 pale-throated sloths, and you’re bound to get better at painting. Even if you only get better at painting pale-throated sloths, that could become your niche.

Over time – with practice and effort – quantity creates quality. Create enough quantity to reach the point where creating past our limit leads to dead-ends and frustration. Stop just before that point and create around it. Our limit becomes our niche.

Run dozens of 12 minute miles, and eventually you’ll start running 11 minute miles. Even if you can’t run any quicker than 11 minutes per mile, you’ll have become the master of the 11 minute mile. “Go seek out Jeffrey,” they say. “He’s the best at getting people from a 12 minute mile to an 11 minute mile.”
