White Belts, No Belts

You’re doing your work because you want to make a change in your audience when they see your work. If your work is athletic, you want to display the capabilities of the human body. If your work is theatrical, you want to make people feel a certain way, to see things from a certain perspective, to bring comedy to the mundane of the everyday.

You might not see that you’re making a difference right now. But you are. Your work is influential even if you’re a beginner. The white belt performs, and the other white belts think: I could do that now. The brown belt performs, and the white belts think: I could do that later. It’s those with no belts that see your work and mistakenly think that they could do what you do.
