Dormant

If you’re 25, what advice would you give to your 20-year-old self? Here’s a more useful question. What advice would your future self give to you now?

If you choose to spend the next two months staying dormant in your room, in two months you’ll have become your future self that chose to stay dormant in your room. Choose to spend the next two months doing the same, and your future self won’t have any useful advice to give to you, except for advice on how to keep staying dormant in your room.

I chose to stay dormant in my room for three years. It was a safe choice in the short term. No challenges, no mistakes, no pain – no growth. My future self had no advice to give to me, except for advice on how to stay more dormant in my room. Only when I chose to move away from that dormant state did my future self begin to gain any advice worth listening to.
