Don’t Shoot The Messenger

Let’s get rid of the phrase “don’t shoot the messenger.”

Don’t shoot the messenger doesn’t mean that there’s bad news. A doctor would never say “don’t shoot the messenger” after delivering some horrible news to a worried visitor.

Don’t shoot the messenger means: there’s a problem, I don’t want to figure out a solution, leave me out of it.

It’s hard not to want to shoot somebody who carries that kind of attitude.
