The perfectionist never sets a reasonable deadline.
A reasonable deadlines means that it’s going to be finished by no later than this time – with few exceptions.
Abbey Road. The Statue of Liberty. The Shawshank Redemption. Those things exist because somebody set a reasonable deadline.
Here’s one more example: nature.
Nature is no perfectionist. You never would’ve been born if nature kept you in your mother’s womb until you were perfect.
There’s nothing wrong with striving to make your work the best it can be. But you need to lower your standards if ‘best it can be’ means ‘perfect’.
Why treat your work any differently than how nature treated you?
