Podcasts, lemonade stands

Fun and profit. It’s more than a throwaway line. It’s correct. The order is right: fun first, then profit.

‘Then’ might be five years. Five years could be how long it takes for you to get so good that people will pay you. Or, it could be how long it takes for you to understand that fun should always follow profit.

I saw an advertisement for a course called something like ‘how to start a podcast and make a lot of money out of your podcasting business.’

Why, mister advertisement, does starting a podcast necessarily mean that it should be used to make a buck?

Where are the classes that teach us how and why we should start things for our enjoyment, our search for experiences that will humble us and provide us with opportunities to generously share our messages with the world?

Not every creative endeavor needs to be a lemonade stand.
