On my walk this morning, I noticed more of the color green in the trees.
I’ve taken hundreds of walks around the neighborhood. The amount of trees hasn’t changed. And today it was overcast. So why was I seeing more of the color green?
Usually I treat my morning walks as an opportunity to do some future planning or past evaluating. This is my way of pretending I can time travel.
But this morning, I decided not to do either. I decided to see what was in front of me instead of what’s not going to happen the way I want.
We’re very good at projecting ourselves into some distant point in the past and future. But there’s rarely anything good to bring back from our fantasy time travel adventures that would benefit us in the present.
