“But I’m awkward on camera. People won’t enjoy it. I don’t know anything about…”
I get lost in translation when I hear people say stuff like that.
What I hear, obviously, is doubt. But doubt is a mistranslation of courage. Because the doubtful are the most courageous of all: it’s because they can articulate their doubts that they’re inches away from making the leap. In other words, we can’t be courageous if we don’t know what it is we’re afraid of.
You can practice speaking to a mirror if the camera is too much for you.
There’s an audience for every subject and every kind of personality.
And you can learn anything about whatever it is you know nothing about.
The first step is always doubt. The second step is always the leap of faith, the courage to move forward. And I hope you choose to move forward despite all your doubts, fears, and insecurities.
