Many years ago: Its 3 pm. I’m waking up. Not after a nap, but after 8 hours of sleep starting at 7 am. And not because I have a night shift at work, but because I’m depressed.

Today: I woke up at 6:20 am. I feel fucking fantastic.

In some unknown time, I’ll probably write a much longer post about how this change happened. There’s a lot of ups and many downs.

In the meantime, here’s some buzzfeed length tips on how to feel fucking fantastic very fucking frequently.

  1. The harder you make your life, the easier it becomes. Life itself is suffering. If you choose to suffer, the natural suffering that comes with life doesn’t become less of a burden, but you will become stronger in the face of it.
  2. Workout. Everyday. You don’t have to lift something 10x your body weight. Just do something. Everyday. Stop reading this post and go do 30 jumping jacks. Do it!
  3. Train your brain. Read difficult books. Difficult books make you think. Don’t have time to read? Well, if you’re reading this, then I’m guessing you’re not the president of The United States. You have time to read. For starters, here’s The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker.
  4. Eat food with ingredients, not chemicals. Maltodextrin isn’t an ingredient. It’s a chemical. Organic tomatoes and tarragon? Those are ingredients. Find foods made out of foods, not words you can’t pronounce.
  5. Make friends with people who do all of the above. I take much better care of myself when people around me do the same. The Internet is and (hopefully) always will be a fantastic place to meet people who are as crazy as self-development as you are.

That’s it. Only 5 things. You can manage that, right?

Cheers to your good health.
