Pick one:

You attend a 4-year university that prides itself solely on meritocracy. You meet intelligent people who teach you about the mysterious beauty of existence; you’re trained to think on your own, write essays, examine both sides of an argument. You learn the basics of personal finance, the importance of networking, how the economy works, and other practical things so that you can keep your future self and family off the streets. You graduate ready to take on the world. You’re equipped with mental tools to shape your future on your terms. Godspeed.

You attend a 4-year university that prides itself solely on inclusivity. You meet timid people who host ‘self-care days’ where you watch Steven Universe and eat candy to your heart’s content; you’re trained to think like your professor, write public journal entries about your private traumas, and entertain 1 side of an argument. Oh, and you don’t learn personal finance, the value of networking, how the economy works, or anything that’ll keep your future self and family off the streets. Because intersectional-colonial-gender-role-enforcing-systems-of-oppression are much more important. You graduate ready to take down the world. You’re equipped with the superhuman ability to see invisible systems of oppression (and to ignore the visible ones 90 miles from Florida) so that you can shape all of western civilization on your terms. Godspeed.
