The relationship between rate and quality

If I charge less for my work, I feel less motivated to do a good job. If I charge more, it’s like I’m reminding myself that I am in fact capable of making a really good video. The more I charge, the more effort I’ll put in. The less I charge, the more I fidget with my thumbs and ruminate about how I should have charged more.

It seems to me that there’s a strong correlation between rate and quality. Raise your rate, raise your quality. Raise your quality, raise your rate.

But being on a call with a client, telling them your rate straight up? Hard. Takes practice. It’s a skill. I’m not quite good at it yet, although I know I’m worth what I’m currently charging (it’s not cheap).
